Cane Rosso Rescue in Carrollton, Texas is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization founded in 2014. A pizza restaurant owner saved the life of a shelter dog and a passion to help more dogs was born. The organization supports local dog rescue groups by creating a network of foster homes and ultimately finding homes for abandoned or homeless dogs.
So far, they've found homes for over 300 dogs.
Cane Rosso Rescue assists dog rescue groups in the area through its collaborative "Pups on the Patio" events, held in the spring and fall seasons at participating Cane Rosso Neapolitan pizza shops. Rescue groups bring adoptable dogs to Cane Rosso's dog-friendly patios for an evening of fundraising, pet adoptions, and pizza. Patrons offer donations in exchange for discounts and deals on food and drinks, and Cane Rosso matches all donations.

Jokes aside, there are three things all shelter dogs need to thrive in their new home:
Older shelter dogs, generally 1+ years old, may have experienced a lot of trauma, which often results in one of 8 common behavioral issues:
These issues are correctable! Your dog isn't broken, they're just damaged. You can fix them with enough love, patience, and a good training plan.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, finding good dog trainers can be hard. Like everything else, dog training is moving only. but there are great online dog trainers that are proven to work and can help get your new pup on the right path.
You can learn a lot about an animal welfare organization just by looking at their name.
